According to the UK government’s Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations implemented in January 2014, businesses are now legally compelled to recycle their old telephone equipment instead of disposing it in normal refuse. The WEEE regulations provides clear requirements for the retrieval, repurposing, and recycling of all electrical products that must be followed by every business.
Outdated telephony equipment is often made of materials like plastic, glass and metal that can be recycled into other useful products. However, these items may also contain harmful chemicals that could negatively impact the environment or human health if not disposed of properly.
