According to the UK government’s Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations implemented in January 2014, businesses are now legally compelled to recycle their old telephone equipment instead of disposing it in normal refuse. The WEEE regulations provides clear requirements for the retrieval, repurposing, and recycling of all electrical products that must be followed by every business.
Outdated telephony equipment is often made of materials like plastic, glass and metal that can be recycled into other useful products. However, these items may also contain harmful chemicals that could negatively impact the environment or human health if not disposed of properly.
SCS Recycling is fully licensed as an upper tier carrier/broker for the removal of identified WEEE telephone/IT equipment and systems. We take away the hassle and confusion that surrounds the recycling and disposal of your telephony/IT equipment, ensuring everything is dealt with correctly.
In accordance with the Environmental Agency, when disposing of your equipment under WEEE regulations, SCS Recycling will:
- Provide customers with an official disposal certificate (on day of removal) – signed both by SCS Recycling and the customer. This certificate will include a comprehensive list of each item that has been removed and is the customers proof of full WEEE disposal compliance.
SCS Recycling also advise that customers keep all copies of disposal paperwork and certificates for future reference should proof of disposal be required by the Environmental Agency.
